Chimney Repair With Masonry Repairs

25 Nov

The two-layer roof had bad wood around the chimney from leaking issues and the chimney masonry was leaking as well with a small tree growing from the bricks. Started by completing masonry repairs by grinding out of all joints between bricks from roof line to the top, removing the crown on top around the flues.

Applying new crown on top, tuckpointing with new mortar (colored to match) from roof line to the top. Remove of two-layers of shingles around the chimney area and replacing of bad wood sheeting. Installing new ice and water shield underlayment to cover wood sheeting in open area. Installing new shingles to open area (one-layer went back in preparation of continuing remaining roof replacement next year). Install new aluminum flashing metal around the chimney (flashing metal set into the joints between the bricks).
