The concrete tiles on the mansard
roof areas had to be removed and
new asphalt shingles installed.
The brittle concrete tiles were
beginning to be a danger to people
walking on the sidewalk below.
The original green protective coating could still be seen on
some of the tiles .
The tiles removed from the roof
were very thin and weathered.
The courtyard was too narrow for
a manlift. Three-stage ladders had
to be used.
Two men worked from the ladders.
A man on the flat roof supplied the
shingles.
The cement tiles were stacked on
the flat roof until they could be
lowered to the ground.
Everyone was pleased that a
manlift could be used across
the front of the building.
After struggling with the ladders
the remainder of the job was com-
pleted using the manlift.
