An ODOT garage in the snowbelt
area had aluminum gutters that
were being destroyed by snow
and ice slides.

A section of the gutter that had
been battered by sliding snow and ice during the winter.

Aluminum is a soft metal that
fasteners will pull out of when
hit hard enough.

The new flat back gutters were
fabricated in our sheet metal shop
out of 24 gauge steel.

Along the back of the garage lad-
ders and picks were used to stand
on while installing the new gutters.
Even though the new gutters are
stronger than the old gutters, it was
recommended that snowrails be
installed on the roof.

The flange of the new gutter is
fastened under the roof panels.
